Meet the Chef
John Burton Race is a top chef and highly successful restaurateur with a larger-than-life personality. His career as a chef progressed rapidly initially under the wing of Raymond Blanc and then under his own efforts at L’Ortolan and JBR at the Landmark where he achieved two Michelin stars.
The cameras followed John’s escapades in France and his journey as he set up The New Angel in Dartmouth, but he became a household name when he spent time in the jungle with the ITV1 Series I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.
His appearances on TV have continued to escalate since returning from the jungle and it seems he is never off our screens.
John has been incredibly lucky being invited to work on Market Kitchen, Kitchen Criminals, Britain’s Best Dish, Celebrity Best Dish, Daily Cooks Challenge, Christmas Cooks challenge, Taste The Nation, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is and most recently in Celebrity quitters, when John joined five other celebs to give up his 30 year habit on screen.
In January 2010 John was busy filming a new format called Country House Cooking, a knock out competition for amateur chefs. This will be screened shortly and looks to be an exciting new addition to the cookery scene.
John is a familiar face at live demos and will be attending the Ideal Home Exhibition in April and Grand Designs Live in May.
